Visual Motor Disorder | Visual Spatial Disorder | Written | Working Memory Visual Motor Disorder The term used for a disorder where an individual has significant problems interpreting visual perceptions by way of graphic demonstration. In a practical sense, the problem would impair an individual's ability to copy written material from a book or blackboard. It is often a problem in Non-Verbal Learning Disorders. See Validation Statement. Visual Spatial Disorder The term used for a disorder where an individual has significant problems perceiving spatial relationships. This might include the individual's ability to accurately perceive his/her distance from other persons, places or things or the ability to accurately perceive an object as it should be appropriately placed in a given space. In a practical sense, this problem would impair an individual's ability to appropriately write or print letters on paper or to place numbers in an appropriate space for accurate computation. This problem would also interfere with games or a sport where accurately estimating distances is mandatory. See Validation Statement. Written -See Developmental Language Problems Working Memory The term used for a disorder where an individual has difficulty storing and/or recalling information used every day for many days over months and years. An example would be forgetting punctuation rules or multiplication tables. Memory disorders are often a cause for academic underachievement, poor social relationships and poor job performance.
