About ABLE

Members of the ABLE Development Group, after many years of experience with children who have emotional, behavioral and learning problems, decided that a more comprehensive grass roots interview with parents and teachers might decrease a seriously high number of treatment failure.

All too frequently children are diagnosed for a condition but treatment is ineffective. Other than inadequate treatment, the reason is often because children are sometimes misdiagnosed or their diagnosis is associated with one or more other conditions.child

With the advent of much improved scanning and computer technology and a significant improvement in the categorical diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders in children, the ABLE Development Group designed a plan incorporating these advancements.

It was believed that combining an electronically scanned interview with questions that target information about many of the common mental health disorders one could improve the potential for a more accurate and comprehensive assessment of a child at risk. The advantages would produce a labor saving, cost effective report that might eliminate interview bias and omissions.

After twelve years of constructing the ABLE Inventory Series and administering it to over 4,250 individuals, the ABLE Development Group decided it was time to present it to the public by way of the Internet. At last the public, as well as mental health professionals can access a large amount of confidential information about a child requiring very little time and expense.

The ABLE Development Group hopes you will see the benefits derived from its labor.

The ABLE Development Group's Mission is to be a premier provider of information to parents, educators and mental health professionals for furthering the emotional well-being of young people everywhere.
